The government on Monday decided to create an additional post of Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General to oversee coordination of audits of states as well as telecommunication.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Deputy CAG will oversee coordination among state audits, audit of telecommunications and various initiatives within the Indian Audit & Accounts Department (IA&AD), said an official statement. According to the CAG's website, there are five Deputy CAGs at present.
The government also cleared a spending of over ₹2,700 crore for the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) programme consisting of five GSLV flights during the period 2021-2024. The fourth phase of the programme will enable launch of 2-tonne class of satellites for geo-imaging, navigation, data relay communication and space sciences, said an official statement.
The government also cleared the continuation of the new urea policy of 2015 till further orders from 1 April, 2019, for existing natural gas-based factories. It will facilitate regular supply of urea to farmers, said the statement.
