Afghanistan vs Nepal Highlights, Asian Games 2026: Nepal defeated Afghanistan by five wickets to get their Asian Games 2026 campaign off to a winning start in Nisshin.
The win means that Nepal have two points from one game, the same as Afghanistan who are on top of Group A due to a superior Net Run Rate. The top two teams from Groups A and B, consisting of three teams each, will qualify for the quarterfinals that will feature India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Afghanistan won the toss and opted to bat first. However, that plan did not seem to work well as they lost three wickets in the powerplay. Faisal Shinozada and Najibullah Zadran, though, scored 30 runs each to take Afghanistan to 102/7.
Nepal lost Kushal Bhurtel in the very first over, and like Afghanistan, they too lost three wickets in the powerplay.

Afghanistan still lead the Group A standings with two points from one match, the same as Nepal who are in second place. Japan, who lost to Afghanistan in their first match, are in third place without any points.

Sundeep Jora and Aasif Sheikh will look to lead Nepal's recovery after having lost Kushal Bhurtel very early in the run chase. On paper, this would have seemed like a straightforward run chase, but so far that outcome has been anything but.
Afghanistan are doing a pretty good job to keep Nepal's run rate in check.
Nepal 12/1 after 3 overs
OUT!Faridoon Dawoodzai strikes early for Afghanistan as he removes Kushal Bhurtel. Bhurtel starred with the ball earlier, but is unable to continue that kind of form into his batting. He is caught by Najibullah Zadran at cover as he takes a stunning catch.

Afghanistan 95/7 after 19 overs
