The league stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 concluded with a thrilling encounter between India and Oman in Abu Dhabi. India and Sri Lanka lived up to their reputation, finishing as group toppers with an unbeaten record to enter the Super 4 stage. Pakistan advanced to the next round as the second-best team from Group B, while Afghanistan's two losses made way for Bangladesh from Group B. Among the associate nations, the UAE won just one game, while Oman impressed everyone with their spirited show against India. In the Super 4 stage, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan will play each other once, with the top two teams advancing to the final. UAE, Oman, Afghanistan and Hong Kong stand eliminated. The Super 4 stage starts on September 20. India will take on Pakistan for the second time on September 21 in Dubai. India are the most successful team in the tournament, with a record eight titles - 1984, 1988, 1990-91, 1995, 2010, 2016, 2018 and 2023. Sri Lanka are the second-most successful team with six titles - 1986, 1997, 2004, 2008, 2014, 2022. Pakistan have won the tournament twice, in 2000 and 2012.The only time India boycotted the Asia Cup was in 1986 due to strained cricketing relations with Sri Lanka.

Asia Cup trophy issue to be resolved soon after talks with Naqvi: BCCI Secretary

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has revealed that the ice has been broken with PCB and ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi over the Asia Cup trophy row. India had refused to collect the trophy from Naqvi after winning the 2025 Asia Cup final against Pakistan in Dubai.
