Delhi and District Cricket Association receives threat mail amid India-Pakistan tensions

Amid the India-Pakistan conflict underway, the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Friday received an anonymous mail threatening that their Arun Jaitley stadium will be blown.

According to the details, the Arun Jaitley Stadium, situated in the national capital, is also the home to IPL's Delhi Capital franchise. The Arun Jaitley Stadium was all set to host the IPL 2025 match between DC and Gujarat Titans on 11 May.

According to the details, the DDCA received a threat email at 9:00 AM on Friday, warning: “We’ve Pak faithful sleeper cells across India. We will activate them for Op Sindoor. We will blast your stadium.”

Following the threat, the DDCA has promptly reported the matter to Delhi Police.

As per details, the recent development arrived two days after India's Operation Sindoor, where Indian Armed Forces destroyed nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir in response to deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam where 26 tourists were killed.

On 29 April, the Arun Jaitley Stadium hosted the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

BCCI suspends IPL for a week:

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced that it has decided to suspend the remainder of the ongoing TATA IPL 2025 with immediate effect for one week.

The media advisory was released by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, who added that further updates regarding the new schedule and venues of the tournament will be announced in due course after a comprehensive assessment of the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders.

"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the remainder of the ongoing TATA IPL 2025 with immediate effect for one week. "The decision was taken by the IPL Governing Council after due consultation with all key stakeholders following the representations from most of the franchisees, who conveyed the concern and sentiments of their players, and also the views of the broadcaster, sponsors and fans ; while the BCCI reposes full faith in the strength and preparedness of our armed forces, the Board considered it prudent to act in the collective interest of all stakeholders."
