The buzz around the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has started taking pace with just less then a day left for the mega event to kick off in Pakistan. The ICC Champions Trophy starts on February 19 in Pakistan and will be played in a hybrid model after India refused to travel to their neighbouring country due to security reasons.
Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi are the three venues to host the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan. However, India will play all their matches in Dubai, including the semifinal and final, provided they qualify. The semi finals are scheduled for March 4 and 5 while the final is slated for March 9.
Afghanistan are making their debut in the ICC Champions Trophy. The seven other teams are India, hosts Pakistan, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand and Bangladesh. All the eight squads have already announced their squads.
However, Australia were forced to make four changes after Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh were ruled out due to respective injuries and Marcus Stoinis announced ODI retirement. Another notable absentee from the tournament is Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who is currently under suspension from bowling after failing two bowling tests.
Pakistan are the defending champions of ICC Champions Trophy. The Men in Green had defeated India in the final of 2017 edition at Lord’s. This is also the first time in 30 years, Pakistan is hosting an ICC event.
India (2002, 2013) and Australia (2006, 2009) are the most successful sides in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 with two titles each. South Africa (1998), New Zealand (2000), Sri Lanka (2002), West Indies (2004) and Pakistan (2017) have won the title once each.

Returning after a gap of eight years, the ICC Champions Trophy is set to kick off on February 19 in Pakistan. Pakistan are the defending champions of the ICC Champions Trophy, having won the 2017 edition, defeating India in the final. India and Australia are the most successful sides in the ICC Champions Trophy, having won the title twice. West Indies, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and Pakistan have all won the tournament apiece.
