The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is just a month away as it returns after eight years in Pakistan and Dubai next month. The tournament is being played in a hybrid model as BCCI refused to send its team to Pakistan due to security reasons. India will play all ther games in Dubai, including the knockouts, provided they qualify.
Eight teams will compete for the prestigious silverware. Pakistan, who are the reigning champions, will definitely have the edge on their home turf, but other sub-continent teams like India, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will pose a tough challenge to the opposition.
Champions Trophy 2025 kicks off on February 19 with a group match between Pakistan and New Zealand. The first semi-final will be played in Dubai on March 4 and the second in Lahore on March 5. The penultimate match will be played on March 9, with the likely venues being Dubai and Lahore, depending on India's qualification. The tournament is being played in a hybrid format after India made known its stance to not play in Pakistan.
With India announcing their squad, Pakistan are the only remaining team to be named for the meg event. The likes of South Africa, Australia have already announced their squads for the marquee tournament. England were the first team to announce their side.
However, it has been learnt that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has submitted a 15-member preliminary squad to the International Cricket Council (ICC). Meanwhile, South African Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury.
