Smriti Mandhana is named as the Player of the Match: She says, “After playing a lot of ODI cricket, it was hard to get into T20 mode, playing six months of ODI and coming back to T20 was a bit hard mentally. The plans were similar; I had some gameplans against them, I came early and tried to work on that.”
That's it. A wicket in the final over by Shree Charani as India win by 30 runs to make it 4-0 with a game to spare. Chasing 222, Sri Lanka were restricted at 191/6 - their highest-ever T20I total.
Things doesn't look good for Smriti Mandhana. As she drops in the previous over, Mandhana seems to have experienced a twich around her glute muscles or the hamstring. The Indian vice-captain hobbles out of the ground just before the start of the 19th over. She looks all right in the dugout. SLW 168-4 (18)
OUTTT!!! Another Sri Lankan batter bites the dust. Harshitha Samarawickrama dances down the track, but misses the line of the ball as Richa Ghosh does the rest behind the stumps. Vaishnavi Sharma quickly runs to Harmanpreet Kaur to celebrate. DROPPEDDD!!! It could have been two in an over for Sharma but Smriti Mandhana gives Kavisha Dilhari a second chance at the boundary. SLW 154-4 (17)
OUTTT!!! India are slowly inching towards their fourth win of the series as Sri Lanka fall apart. Harshitha Samarawickrama sweeps Deepti Sharma and calls for a two. Imesha Dulani, who was at the non-striker's end, completes the first run but Amanjot Kaur's lighting fielding seens her fall short. Amanjot throws at the non-striker's end and Deepti does the rest. SLW 146/3 (16)
OUTTT!!! That's the wicket India were searching for as Chamari Athapaththu departs shortly after her fifty. Athapaththu dances down the track and went for the big shot. She miscues it towards long-off where Smriti Mandhana takes the catch, running towards her right. Vaishnavi Sharma gets the breakthrough. Athapaththu departs after 37-ball 52. SLW 116/2 (13)
The Sri Lankan run flow have stemmed a bit after the wicket of Hasini Perera. The required rate is nearing to 13 RPO as Sri Lanka fight hard. Captain Chamari Athapaththu and Imesha Dulani are in the middle. SLW 95/1 (10)
OUTTT!!! India have their first breakthrough with Arundhati Reddy getting better of Hasini Perera. The Sri Lankan opener was caught by Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Hasini went to loft Reddy but her bat turned at the point of impact, giving a simple catch to Harmanpreet at mid-off. She goes for 33. SLW 66/1 (7)
Batting looks easier in the second innings as Sri Lanka race away to fifty in just five overs. This is Sri Lanka's first fifty-plus stand for any wicket in this series. While captain Chamari Athapaththu is holding at one end, Hasini Perera is playing the aggressors' role with a flurry of boundaries. SLW 58/0 (5)
6, 6, 4, 6 - Brutal hitting by Richa Ghosh off the bowling of Kavisha Dilhari towards the end of the innings as India cross 200-run mark. A six and a four in the final over by Harmanpreet Kaur to finish off the the innings as India end at 221/2 in 20 overs.
OUTTT!!! Finally a wicket for Sri Lanka as Shafali Verma gives a simple catch to Nimasha Madushani. Shafali played 46 balls for her 79, studded with 12 fours and one six. OUTTT again! Smriti Mandhana tries to go over the top, but is caught by Imesha Dulani. Malsha Shehani gets the wicket. Mandhana scored 80 in 48 balls with 11 fours and three sixes.
Both batters are in their seventies as the partnerships goes past 150. In fact, it's the highest stand for Indian women for any wicket in T20Is, bettering Smriti Mandhana-Shafali Verma's 143 runs for the opening wicket against West Indies women in 2019. INDW 158/0 (15)
Fifty for Smriti Mandhana too. After missing out on a fifty in the first three games, Mandhana reaches her first fifty of the series with a four off Rashmika Sewwandi. With this half-century, Mandhana now has 32 fifty-plus scores in women's T20Is, the most by any batter. Suzie Bates and Beth Mooney (both has 29 each) are behind Mandhana in the list.
India are on a rampage while batting first for the first time in the series. Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma. Fifty for Shafali. This is her third consecutive fifty in this series. In fact, Shafali has been in her form of life since returning to the Indian side. A six and a four to follow for Shafali. 100 for India too. INDW 100/0 (11)
What a start by Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma as the Indian openers share nine boundaries in the first five overs. While Mandhana started the onslaught, Shafali, who scored a fifty in the previous match, is quickly trying to match his partner. INDW 49-0 (5)
Chamari Athapaththu and Harmanpreet Kaur walk out in the middle for the toss. Chamari wins the toss and Sri Lanka opt to bowl first. The Sri Lankan captain is playing her 150th T20I game. India have made two changes with Jemimah Rodrigues and Kranti Gaud making way for Harleen Deol and Arundhati Reddy.
The wicket looks more browner from the previous game and it looks like a little bit of grass has been shaved off. It has been a perfect strip for batting in the last game and there won't be any such change in this game. Bowlers will have to maintain line and length for success in this wicket.
So far, all the tosses have been won by India and they opted to field first. Interestingly, Sri Lanka are yet to cross the 130-run mark in the series so far with the Indian team chasing the target in less than 15 overs. In fact, baring the top four, none of the rest of playing XI have had a crack with the bat.
With the series already in pocket, the Indian team might consider giving some game time to the players who have been in the bench. If that's the case, G Kamalini might make her India debut. Harleen Deol, who is also yet to feature in the series, might also get a game.
India women have been dominant all throughout the tournament. In all the three games, India women have batted second on all occasions, thus winning by handsome margins.
