Meanwhile, coming back at the game, after winning the tosss, Australian skipper Pat Cummins elected to bat first. For Australia, David Warner (56 off 34 balls), Mitchell Marsh (96 off 84 balls), Steven Smith (74 off 61 balls) and Marnus Labuschagne (72 off 58 balls) struck half-centuries in what turned out to be their best batting show of the series.
Jasprit Bumrah had best figures of 3/81 while spinner Washington Sundar was team's best bowler with figures of 0/48 in 10 overs.
India skipper Rohit Sharma had earlier said that only 13 players were available for selection for the Rajkot match.
sraosaNow chasing a humongous target of 353, India did start well, but its batter could not stay at the picth for long, all thanks to Australian bowling attack. Apart from Rohit Sharma 81(57), Virat Kohli 56(61) and Shreyas Iyer 48(43), not other batter could score for the team. With India losing wickets at continous intervals, a partership could not stand for long.
By the end of 49.4 overs, all the Indian batters were in pavillion, as India lost the match to Australia by 66 runs.
For Australia, Glenn Maxwell picked 4 wickets, Josh Hazlewood took 2, while Mitchell Starc, Cameron Green and Tanveer Sangha clinched one each respectively.
Earlier, India had defeated Australia by 99 runs in the second ODI in Indore despite the absence of senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.
Shreyas Iyer had won the Player of the Match award in that match after his hundred against the Kangaroos helped the Men in Blue post a mammoth 399-run total.

He said, "It's been a lot of hard work. The South Africa tour was a little bit of setback. But it probably sped things up as well. I was able to get home and get an injection and get into my rehab. I feel like I'm in a decent place. I feel fresh. I feel like I've come into this World Cup nice and fresh and I'm excited to hit the ground running."
After Jadeja went to pavilion, it was just a formality. And Cameron Green ensured the end of India's innings with the dismissal of Mohammed Siraj.
