Chasing a mammoth 209-run target, Suryakumar Yadav scored 80 off 42 balls, while Kishan made 58 off 39 balls to take India home in the final ball.
Towards the end, Rinku Singh (22 not out off 14 balls) delivered the finishing touches with a six to take India home.
India-origin leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha (2/47) picked up two wickets for Australia.
Earlier, Josh Inglis smashed his maiden century in the format to power Australia to 208 for three after being sent into bat. Inglis smashed a fiery 110 off just 50 balls with the help of 11 boundaries and eight sixes to propel Australia to 208 for three.
Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav after winning the toss, decided to bowl first against Australia. Suryakumar expects some dew later on.
Batting first, Matthew Short was departed by Ravi Bishnoi as he bowled him in the 4th delivery of 5th over. Following this, Steven Smith and Josh Inglis paced up the innings and set a partnership of over hundred runs.
Inglis scored his first T20I century in just 47 balls, and made 110 runs in just 50 balls, before being sent to pavillion by Y Jaiswal and Mukesh Kumar. On the contrary, Steven Smith (52) completed his half century and then was RUN OUT on the 5th delivery by Mukesh Kumar of the 16th over.
Australia scored 208/3 runs in 20 over and gave India a target of 209 runs to chase.
Indian squad for the Australia T20 series is mostly made up of relative newbies in international cricket and many of these players were also part of the Asian Games gold medal-winning team. Interestingly, the spinner Axar Patel who had to be ruled out of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 owing to an injury, has returned while wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson is amongst the notable omissions.
In stark contrast, Aussies have decided to stick with much of the same team that lifted the ICC World Cup trophy in Ahmedabad just a few days ago while giving rest to a few key players like Pat Cummins and David Warner.
In the spotlight will be left-handed batter Travis Head who was also the Man of the Match for the final and had led the Aussies to the 6th World Cup title with his century.

They have been doing all this in the IPL and have played a lot of domestic cricket recently. They are in good form as I have heard from our support staff. I told them only one thing - enjoy your time in the middle, do the same things and don't try to do something different," the Indian captain added.
