IND 28/0 in 5 overs at Stumps on DAY 2 and lead by 171 runs.
Earlier in the day at Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a double century off 277 balls, with the help of 18 fours and 7 sixes. He scored 209 off 290 balls before being departed by James Anderson in the fifth delivery of 107th over.
Looking at the stats, Jaiswal is the third youngest Indian to do so after Vinod Kambli and Sunil Gavaskar. Jaiswal has become the first Indian left-hander to score a double century in India since 2009.
Following this, Indian batters couldn't last long on crease and India were all out at 396 in 112 overs.
James Anderson, Shoaib Bashir and Rehan Ahmed picked 3 wickets each, while Tom Hartley picked one.
Trailing by 396, England batters started with an attacking approach, until Axar Patel gave a break though in the form of Zak Crawley (76) in the 22.3 over. Shreyas Iyer picked a brilliant catch. Before that, Kuldeep Yadav sent Ben Duckett (21) in the 10.2 overs, as Rajat Patidar takes the catch.
Until Drinks Break post Lunch, England were sailing fine at 110/1 in 22 overs, but they lost three important wickets by Tea. They were 155/4 in 33 overs.
Jasprit Bumrah departed Joe Root (5) in the 25.5 over, via his reverse swing, as he was caught in the slips by Shubman Gill. Bumrah got Root for the eighth time in Tests.
Following this, it was the number of Ollie Pope (23), when Bumrah's reverse-swing in the 27.5 over led him loose his wicket, as he was bowled OUT. This is the fifth time Pope has gone to Bumrah in Tests.
In the 35.4 over, Bumrah dismissed Jonny Bairstow (25) with his wide length ball, which Bairstow pushes at it away from the body. Edged and taken beautifully at first slip by Shubman Gill.
With skipper Ben Stokes trying to give some stability to England, Kuldeep Yadav bowled OUT Ben Foakes (6) in the 38.2 over. Kuldeep stoke again in the 42.3 over as he departed Rehan Ahmed (6), as he was was caught by Shubman Gill in the slips. This was Kuldeep's third wicket.
Bumrah's reverse swing created issues for English team and the skipper fell for it yet again. Ben Stokes (47) in the 49.2 overs couldn't judge the Bumrah's reverse swing and was BOWLED. Stokes drops his bat in despair. This was the 8th time Bumrah dismissed Stokes in Tests.
This was Bumrah's 150th TEST wicket for Bumrah and fourth for this Test. With this, Bumrah becomes Second Fastest Asian to reach 150th wicket, as he is just behind Pakistan's former pacer Waqar Younis, who achieved this feat in 27 Test matches. Bumrah reach the spot in 34 Tests.
But Bumrah did not stop at this. The pacer in the 51.2 over, delivered a pitch-up ball, which Tom Hartley (21) goes for the drive and Shubman Gill snaffles another at first slip. This was Bumrah's 10th five-wicket haul and 151st Test wicket. Also, this was Shubman Gill's 4th catch of the day.
Bumrah's next up was the wicket of James Anderson (6) in the 55.5 over, as he delivered a full length ball and was LBWed. He ends England's innings with a 'Sixfer' for 45 i.e. 6/45.
Apart from Zak Crawley (76) and skipper Ben Stokes (47), no other English player could touch 30 runs-figure. England were all out for 253.
Looking at the stats, this is third best figure of Bumrah in Test cricket and first in India. With this, Bumrah has now 152 Test wickets on his name. Prior to this, his best was 6/27 against West Indies in 2019 and 6/33 against Australia in 2018.
For India, Jasprit Bumrah picked 6 wickets, Kuldeep Yada took 3 and Axar Patel picked one.
Meanwhile, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jasiwal are on crease. India have scored 28/0 in 5 overs at Stumps on DAY 2 and lead by 171 runs.
The star of DAY 1 was undisputedly India's opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who remained unbeaten at 179 runs in 257 ball. He lead India to score 336/6 in 93 overs. This was Yashasvi's second Test century. In this, he surpassed his previous best of 171 against West Indies. In his 179 not out, Jaiswal smashed 17 fours and 5 sixes.
Jaiswal took 151 balls to reach 100, and 224 balls to reach 150. Currently, he is unbeaten and will begin the DAY 2 with R Ashwin (5) on February 3.
For England, debutant spinner Shoaib Bashir and Rehan Ahmed took two wickets each while Tom Hartley and James Anderson picked one wicket each.
