India pacer Harshit Rana has been reprimanded by the ICC for his over-the-top send off to Dewald Brevis in the first ODI. The ICC stated that Rana was guilty of breaking the Article 2.5 of its Code of Conduct, which stated that a player cannot use words, gestures, or actions that insult or provoke a batter after getting them out. The sanction was proposed by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees.

The Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur has hosted only two international games, both in 2023. India played their only ODI against New Zealand, winning a low-scoring encounter. In the same year, India had defeated Australia in a T20I game at this venue.

While the Indian team are likely to remain unchanged, South Africa will have a few changes, at least a couple of them. Skipper Temba Bavuma will replace Ryan Rickelton with Quinton de Kock returning to the top. Prenelan Subrayen, who was one of the South African bowlers to concede more than expected, might warm the bench, with Keshav Maharaj replacing him.
