India vs Sri Lanka Highlights, 2nd Test Day 1: Devdutt Padikkal's hundred powers India to finish at 300/5 at stumps

Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed for 43 as India finished the day at 300/5.

Hundred for Devdutt Paddikal. After his 167 in Galle, Padikkal continues his form in Colombo with yes another century - his second in Tests. Having been dropped on zero and 1, Padikkal made Sri Lanka pay. He was finally dismissed for 117, bowled by Keshara Nuwantha. IND 283/4

Having scored a majestic 167 in the first Test, Devdutt Padikkal is inching closer to another three figure mark. The left-hander so far has been great with the bat and certainly closes the door for Sai Sudharsan's comeback at the moment. IND 235/3

Ohh No! Looks like Rishabh Pant has injured himself. Lahiru Kumara banged in short with Pant going for the pull. The Indian wicketkeeper batter missed the line of the ball as it hit the gloves and dribbled towards the leg-side. The ball looked to have hit Pant's wrist bone and is in considerable pain. The physio is out and brings an ice pack along with him.

The physio is taping Pant's wrist but it looks like he won't be able to continue. Ravindra Jadeja walks in as Pant is retired hurt. IND 207/3

OUT! There's a huge roar in the stadium as Asitha Fernando gets rid of Shubman Gill. This is Fernando's second wicket, after having dismissed Jaiswal earlier. Gill is edged and caught by Niroshan Dickwella after looking to heave across the line.

OUT! KL Rahul has been dismissed for 18 runs by Lahiru Kumara. It's a short baoll from Lahiru Kumara, and KL Rahul goes for the cut shot. However, he ends up top-edging it towards wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella.

Sri Lanka opt for a review for LBW against KL Rahul after he is originally given not out. However, they lose the review after ball-tracking shows it is missing leg-stump.

India have got their first innings underway, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul opening the innings. Jaiswal is off to an aggressive start, getting to 13 runs from 11 deliveries with three fours already.

India captain Shubman Gill has won the toss and has said that India will bat first. He also confirms that Saransh Jain will make his Test debut. Sranansh Jain replaces Kuldeep Yadav, who according to Gill, has an infection.

Sri Lanka also have debutants in Kamil Mishara and Pasindu Sooriyabandara.

All-rounder Saransh Jain is all set to make his Test debut today as he receives his cap from Ravindra Jadeja. This could very well mean that Kuldeep Yadav misses out on a spot in the playing XI after a disappointing performance in Galle.

Both India and Sri Lanka remain in fifth and sixth place respectively in the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) standings. Their win in the first Test took India to 64 points with a points percentage (PCT) of 53.33.

Sri Lanka, meanwhile, have 20 points and a PCT of 33.33.

India defeated Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the first Test in Galle. India won the toss and opted to bat first. Devdutt Padikkal starred on his return to to the Test playing XI, with a knock of 167 to take India to 462.

Sri Lanka were bowled out for 284 in their first innings reply despite a century from Sonal Dinusha and a knock of 80 from Niroshan Dickwella.

India were then bowled out for 193 in the second innings, meaning that the visitors had a lead of 371.

Sri lanka faltered in their run chase as they were bowlerd out for 206 despite fifties from Sonal Dinusha and Dhananjaya de Silva.
