IND vs SL Highlights, 2nd Test Day 3: Sonal Dinusha keeps Sri Lanka in fight after rain forces early stumps in Colombo

Once again Sonal Dinusha comes to rescue for Sri Lanka. Like in the first session in the first Test, Dinusha stood tall against all odds to complete his half-century in 82 deliveries off Manav Suthar. Dinusha raises his bat to acknowledge all that applause and appreciation.

Meanwhile, it has been a fruitfull session for Sri Lanka after losing the wickets of Pasindu Sooriyabandara and Niroshan Dickwella. At Tea break, Sri Lanka are 216/7, still trailing by 287 runs.

OUT! Sri Lanka are in deep trouble now as Niroshan Dickwella departs for a three-ball duck. It is a short-length ball from Mohammed Siraj, and Dickwella looks to tuck this one away on the leg side, but instead ends up getting a faint edge that goes towards wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel.

OUT! Ravindra Jadeja gets the crucial wicket of Pasindu Sooriyabandara, who is dismissed for 80. Pasindu is clean bowled by the spinner after the batter looks to push the ball towards the onside. He gets an inside edge off the bat as the ball hits the stumps before taking a deflection off the back thigh.

Here is an update from the middle. The umpires inspected the middle and reported some damp patches. The groundstaff are working on those. The covers are almost off. Play will resume at 1:10 PM IST.

Play will resume late after lunch due to wet outfield. Although the groundsmen are removing the covers, there is still passing clouds in Colombo. The pitch is being uncovered and the stumps are being put into place. The ground should be ready in 20-25 minutes.

It is lunch break on the third day of the second Sri Lanka vs India Test in Colombo, and the hosts will be a little disappointed after having lost Kamindu Mendis just before the break. Kamindu and Pasindu Sooriyabandara forged an 87-run stand for the fourth wicket, before Prasidh Krishna removed the latter.

Skipper Dhananjaya de Silva has joined Pasindu and is unbeaten on four runs. Sri Lanka are 130/4 in their first innings, trailing India by 373 runs.

Prasidh Krishna has finally broken the partnership that looked threatening, with the dismissal of Kamindu Mendis, who was caught by Ravindra Jadeja at mid-wicket.

FIFTY! Pasindu Sooriyabandara registers his maiden Test half-century in only his second Test. He gets to the milestone in 76 deliveries, having hit six boundaries.

Kamindu Mendis and Pasindu Sooriyabandara have formed a 50-run stand, with the partnership currently at 52 runs. Sri Lanka needed such a partnership after having lost quick wickets early on, and the hosts will be hoping that Kamindu and Pasindu can offer some resistance.

Right. There is a change of bowling as Manav Suthar comes into the attack. It is a tidy over from Suthar up until the fourth delivery, but then he concedes a maximum as Kamindu Mendis goes for the slog sweep. Nine runs from the 20th over.

Sri Lanka are in a spot of bother once again following the dismissal of Kamil Mishara. Kamindu Mendis joined Pasindu Sooriyabandara, and got off the mark with a boundary, courtesy a drive over extra-cover.

OUT! Prasidh Krishna strikes early on the third day as Sri Lanka lose Kamil Mishara. It is a short ball from Prasidh, and Mishara aims to fend it off. But, the ball eventually makes contact with the gloves as it lobs towards Dhruv Jurel.

Pasindu Sooriyabandara and Kamil Mishara will be looking to steady the Sri Lankan innings after the hosts sustained a double blow on the second day.

Both the batters have looked in decent touch, with Pasindu not out on nine and Mishara unbeaten on 18.

Right. It's time for LIVE action as day three gets underway in Colombo. Pasindu Sooriyabandara is the new batter for Sri Lanka at No.4, after the hosts had lost Prabath Jayasuriya just before stumps on Monday.

Prasidh Krishna bowls the first over of the day, and goes for 12 runs.

On Monday, India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal broke his silence on his clash with Asitha Fernando. Jaiswal was reacting to a video posted by Cricbuzz, wherein Harsha Bhogle spoke on if Jaiswal crossed a line.

"The best thing to do in such a situation is just to walk away, but he turns and comes back. That’s when everybody comes in. They got a little too close for my comfort," Bhogle said.

To this, Jaiswal replied, stating: “If you don't know what he said, then please don't make your judgment. If anyone crosses the line, we need to let them know. This India will fight and reply."

The ongoing second Test between Sri Lanka and India have had its fair share of controversies, with the faceoff between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando grabbing the headlines.

Jaiswal had punished Asitha for three consecutive fours on day one of the second Test, before the Lankan pacer dismissed the India opener off the very next ball.

Asitha gave an aggressive send-off to Jaiswal, which led the latter to go up to Asitha and confront him, with the two of them almost headbutting each other. On Monday, the ICC announced a 25 percent fine of match fee for both the players, as well as one demerit point.

India resumed Day 2 of the second Test from their overnight score of 300/5. The visitors lost Saransh Jain early, but Rishabh Pant returned to bat and scored 63. Pant had retired hurt on Sunday due to a wrist injury, but he returned to bat on Monday.

He and Dhruv Jurel formed a 112-run partnership for the seventh wicket, before the latter registered a century. India eventually declared at a total of 503/9. At stumps on Monday, Sri Lanka were 8/2 after having lost Lahiru Udara and Prabath Jayasuriya.
