Punjab Kings jumped from fifth to second spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) points table with a four-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram stadium on Wednesday. It was Punjab Kings' sixth win of the season while CSK officially out of the playoffs contention following their fifth consecutive defeat in Chennai. Delhi Capitals dropped to fifth place in the points table. Mumbai Indians will go to the top of the table if they beat Rajasthan Royals on Thursday (May 1).

Suryakumar Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal occupy the third and fourth places respectively. Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer enters the top 10 after scoring his fourth fifty of the season.

Chahal's hattrick took him to 13 wickets in the season so far and placed him at 11th. Arshdeep's two wickets also took him to 13 wickets but at seventh spot. Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Josh Hazlewood continues to lead the table with 18 wickets, followed by Prasidh Krishna, Noor Ahmad. CSK Khaleel Ahmed entered the top five after his 2/28 against CSK.
