Williamson has got 578 runs at the ICC cricket World Cup 2019 and that is more than any other captain at any World Cup before. The Kiwi skipper has broken the record of former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene who got 548 runs in the 2007 edition of the event, when the tournament was held in West Indies.
Williamson broke Jayawardene’s record in the final of the World Cup against England where he scored 30 before being dismissed by Liam Plunkett.
It has been a spectacular World Cup for Williamson who has been in outstanding form in the tournament. He scored two match winning centuries against South Africa and West Indies respectively.
