SIX vs HUR Live Commentary

OUT! CAUGHT! That's it, it's all over and it will be the Sixers vs the Scorchers for the BBL trophy for a sixth time in history. Jack Edwards bowls it back of a length and outside off, Rishad Hossain stands tall and reaches out to smack it over point. Hossain ends up slapping it straight down the throat of Jordan Silk in the deep and he isn't dropping that in his sleep. SYDNEY SIXERS WIN BY 57 RUNS!

SIX! That's a clean strike and the tailenders are having a bit of fun out in the middle. Pitched up, full and in the slot around off. Rishad Hossain stays deep in the crease and clobbers it back over the bowler's head for a biggie.

WIDE. Attempted slower ball, full and wide outside off. Called a wide.

In the air but will land safely! Slower one, short and on leg. Stanlake gets a top edge and the ball goes over short fine leg. The keeper chases it down and the batters pick up two runs.

FOUR! That's nicely struck. Short ball over middle, only comes in around waist height. Billy Stanlake rocks back and pulls it down firmly in front of mid-wicket and picks up a boundary.

Back of a length and over off, Rishad Hossain sets up deep to pull but gets an inside edge. The ball goes off the pads and rolls down to deep third for a single.

WIDE. Back of a length and angled down the leg side, Rishad looks to awkwadly pull but misses and a wide is called.

No Hat-trick! Slower ball, full but in the slot around off. Billy Stanlake waits back well and drives it wide of mid off for a single.

OUT! CAUGHT! Jordan Silk is probably the best substitute fielder one could ask for and Ben Dwarshuis gets two wickets in two balls. This is bowled seam up, quick and short at the batter. Riley Meredith gets all cramped up and the ball gets big on him as he looks to pull. The ball gets lobbed over square, where Silk charges in from the deep and reverse-cups it nicely.

OUT! EDGED AND GONE! That should be the final nail in the Hurricanes' coffin. Ben Dwarshuis bowls a slower delivery, it is the leg-cutter and this one nips away from the left-hander. The ball is short and there to be cut and Will Prestwidge throws his hands at it. However, Prestwidge only manages an outside edge that loops behind. Josh Philippe dives to his left and pouches it nice and low. Prestwidge departs aftermaking 19 off 13 balls.

A tad shorter and attacking the body. Prestwidge gets into an awkward position and gloves it back onto the thigh pad. The ball drops down beside the leg stump and the batters pick up a single. Actually, it is given as leg byes.

Very full and on off, Prestwidge can only jam it out to nowhere.

Full and wide, angled across off. Rishad reaches out and slices it through the vacant backward point region for another single.

A low full toss on middle, Prestwidge flicks it aay through mid-wicket and picks up a single.

Is that out? Seemed like a bump ball but Starc thinks it came off the boot and not the turf. The umpire dismisses it and Starc has a smile on his face. Full and straight, Will Prestwidge backs away but ends up jamming it into the turf and back to the bowler, who pouches it with his left hand.

Starc comes around the wicket and nails the straight yorker. Rishad Hossain somehow manages to jam it down to fine leg. The fielder sprints to his right and cuts it off, keeping it down to one run.

Too full and on middle and leg, Hossain works it across to deep square leg for a single.

In the air once again...falls safely!  Flatter delivery, around off and angled in. Will Prestwidge tries to loft through the line but toe ends it to long off where it falls short of Smith. A single.

LANDS SAFELY! Slows up the pace, floats it on the fuller side on middle, Hossain swipes across and gets a top edge, behind the bowler. Too far for Manenti to have a shy.

Tossed up, fuller and on middle, Will Prestwidge drills it to long on for a single.

FOUR! Action replay of the previous ball! Benjamin Manenti gives width outside off, Will Prestwidge bends low once again and hammers it flat over extra cover for four runs.

FOUR! IN THE GAP! Overpitched, outside off, Will Prestwidge gets on his knee and crunches it over extra cover, in the gap for a boundary.

Bangs it short and on leg, Rishad Hossain gets his eyes off as he looks to pull but misses.

OUT! GONE! Sydney Sixers have one foot in the finals with this wicket. Starc pushes it wide, fuller and outside off, McDermott had to reach for it, he flashes his blade and slices it to point. Joel Davies hurls in and dives to get his fingertips under the ball. Right in time and holds onto it despite bumping into the ground.

This is full and around off, in the slot, McDermott crunches it to long off, wide of the fielder for a brace.

FOUR! McDermott reads the field! No one is in the deep at fine leg. McDermott steps across and scoops this fuller delivery to fine leg for a boundary. Consecutive boundaries helps to shift some sort of momentum.

FOUR! 100 up for Hobart Hurricanes! McDermott helps it over mid on. Short of a length, around off, McDermott hangs back and just lofts it over mid on. Enough to get it over the fielder and into the fence.

Starc dishes out a length ball, outside off, Will Prestwidge slices his cut shot over point for a single.

Touch fuller and on middle, Will Prestwidge plays it down to long on for a single to end the over.

SIX! Picked up cleanly! Abbott hits the deck hard but misses his line a bit, room on offer outside off. Will Prestwidge pulls it flat and over long on for a six. Hobart Hurricanes need more of it.

OUT! GONE! Another one bites the dust! Into the surface, hard length and gets big on Jordan, who swings his blade blindly across. Gets a thick top edge to cover. Sean Abbott spreads his arms across, calls for it and holds onto it. The game is drifting away from Hobart quickly.

The off cutter, hits the deck hard, outside off. Jordan makes room to cut it away but misses.

Starts with a slower bumper, outside off, Jordan is beaten for the pace as he swings his blade but misses.

FOUR! CUT AWAY! A welcome boundary! Too short and too wide, McDermott slashes it through point. The fielder in the deep runs to his left and dives but in vain.

Keeps it full and around off, skiddy length. McDermott hits it hard but straight to cover.

A good length ball on middle, Jordan taps it back to Davies. No hat trick for Joel Davies.

OUT! GONE! Joel Davies pulls off a blinder! Sydney Sixers have picked two big wickets. Davies tosses it up, just outside off, sticks into the surface as Wade steps forward and nudges it to the left of Davies. Wade probably thought he had skewed it away but Davies dives to his left, strings his left hand out and gobbles it up. A one-handed stunner to dismiss Wade.

OUT! TAKEN! Wonderful catch by Edwards. A nothing shot, really, from Nikhil Chaudhary and he has to go. Joel Davies bowls it short and wide, Nikhil Chaudhary is stuck in his crease as he throws away his blade. His one hand comes off as he lofts it to long off. Jack Edwards, yards inside, has to trackback. He runs back and dives horizontally to his left and pouches a stunner

Well bowled! McDermott makes room and Manenti straightens up his length, bowls it just inside the tramline. McDermott leaves it.

Floats it on middle, touch fuller and spinning in. McDermott whips it to deep mid-wicket for a brace.

Too full and on middle, Nikhil plays it to long on for a single.

A huge shout for LBW but it is turned down! Looped up, angling in, on leg, Nikhil Chaudhary is caught in his crease as he tries to flick it away but misses and gets hit on the pads. Going down.

TWO WIDES! Angled down the leg side, it pops up off the deck. McDermott fails to sweep and it brushes the arm of the keeper as it rolls to short fine leg. A single.

Fractionally short and angling on the pads, McDermott clips it to square leg for a single.

Another misfield and Starc nearly turns a simple single into a boundary. Length ball angled across off, Nikhil Chaudhary glides it away down to deep third for a single. However, Starc lets it through before just managing to stop it inside the ropes. Two taken.

OUT! CAUGHT! That's clever bowling from Ben Dwarshuis and Sean Abbott just about manages to cling onto the catch. Dwarshius bowls another slower ball, but digs it in a bit and angles it across the right-hander. Beau Webster comes down the pitch but loses his shape and miscues the pull off the top edge. The ball lobs up behind mid-wicket, where Abbott takes a few steps back to his right and juggles it on the first attempt, before eventually gobbling it up. Webster departs after a stop-start innings of 24 (27).

Oh, a clean pick-up and McDermott might have been in trouble. Slower ball, full and around off. McDermott heaves it firmly to Sean Abbott at short mid-wicket and scampers through for the single.

Another slower ball, back of a length and wide outside off. Beau Webster has to reach for it and taps it through covers for a single.

Back of a length, angled across off. McDermott looks to fetch and pull but gets an inside edge past the stumps to fine leg for a single.

Two is the call and two is what they get. Slower one, on a hard length around off. McDermott walks down the pitch ad jams it back onto the turf, getting it straight down the ground for a couple of runs.

Fuller one, sliding on with the arm. McDermott backs away and drives it down to long on for a single.

McDermott will feel he missed out there. Short and over middle, pulled away firmly but straight to short mid-wicket.

Tossed up, turning into the legs, This is tucked away to short fine leg for a single.

Nagging length, in line with the stumps. Webster watchfully blocks it off.

Flatter delivery outside off, puched away off the back foot and through cover-point for just another single.

Dropped short and on leg, turning in, Webster rocks back and pulls it through square leg for a single.

A leg cutter from Abbott, bowls it perfectly. On a good length outside off, moving away from the batter. McDermott looks to cut but misses.

Oh, sloppy again from Smudge. Back of a length, punched away square through covers for a single. The throw at the bowler's end is a bit wide but Smith, who is backing up fumbles and concedes the extra run.

Aerial but safe. Hard length around, Ben McDermott lays into the shot but lofts it a lot high without much timing. The ball sails wide of Lachlan Shaw at deep cover but it lands inside the ropes and plugs in. Two taken.

Shorter this time but slower too, outside off. McDermott looks to pull but misses out.

Back of a length again, straighter in line. Beau stays back and punches it down to long on for a single.

Slower one, just back of a length and on off. Webster blocks it off.

Buzzers! Quicker one again, at the stumps. McDermott pushes it down to long on for a single. The batters just think about the second and Steve Smith fires a throw at the bowler's end and gets a direct hit. However, the ball deflects away and the batters do get the second run.

Tossed up, wide outside off, driven down to long off for one more.

Fired in at the pads, tucked away past square leg for a single.

SIX! BANG! Short of a length and around middle, McDermott rocks back and pulls it firmly over deep mid-wicket for a biggie. The Hurricanes are getting a move on now.

Quick and flat, on off stump, Webster punches it down to long on and turns the strike over.

Bowled short on leg, McDermott backs away and swats it down to long on for a single.

Caught again, but won't count, again! Good length on middle, Beau Webster launches the ball high into the night sky and gets it towards long on. Steve Smith pouches it and throws it back but the batters manage to pick up two runs.

No ball! Caught but Webster isn't going anywhere. Slower bumper wide outside off, Beau reaches out and ends up lobbing it straight to backward point where the catch is taken. SIX! Picked up and dispatched! A length ball on the pads, Beau Webster picks it up and whips it off the legs behind deep square leg for a biggie.

Back of a length and wide outside off, Ben McDermott reaches out and taps it away through cover-point for a single.

Full and around off, driven back past the bowler towards long on for a single.

Back of a length and around off, sits up for the batter. Webster slaps it down hard to the left of extra cover. Moises Henriques dives and deflects it behind as the batters pick up two runs.

Edwards begins with a slower bumper and gets it to really move away outside off. Webster charges down the pitch to pull but is well beaten.

Spinning back in, on middle, Webster flicks it to deep square leg for a single.

Touch fuller and around off, sticks into the surface a bit. Webster plays it back to Manenti.

Pitched up, outside off, Webster strokes it through covers, in the gap for a couple of runs.

Lovely from Manenti! Nicely flighted, on a length and on middle, turning in. Webster stretches forward to drive it but misses and it goes over the stumps and to the keeper. There is a stumping appeal. A big stride forward by Webster and he loses his back footing. He lobs it but gets it down in time when the bails are lit off.

Entertaining over and deserved a wicket too. Very full, outside off, coming in late. Webster looks to push it away but gets an inside edge onto the pads. It rolls to point for a single.

BEATEN! Starc keeps it full and bowls it around the fifth stump. Webster again goes for the big booming drive but misses.

DROPPED! It's Smith! Unthinkable! He suggests the ball just dipped a bit too much. On the driving length, touch fuller, angled across, outside off. Webster looks to drive but gets a thick outside edge to first slip where Steve Smith gets low take but the ball does dips a fraction or two towards him and Smith spills it out.

Into the surface, good length and on top of off. McDermott taps it to third man for a single.

Hits the wide blockhole, outside off, Webster digs it out to mid off for a quick single.

Wide! Too short, down leg. Webster looks to pull but misses.

OUT! GONE! Davies takes the skier! Both the openers are back in the hut. Tim Ward tries to force it up here as he walks down and launches it away. This is fuller and around off, shapes away a bit. Ward slices it high and towards long on. Joel Davies runs to his right and dives to take a sharp catch. Excellent start by the Sixers.

SIX! Connects and connects well! Short of a length, on the hips, straighter delivery and Ward picks it up nicely as he hits it over square leg and it goes a long way over the fence.

A dot again! Right on the good length, around off, seam away and gets it to bounce. Ward puts on his skates and swings across but gets beaten.

Another dot! Hobart Hurricanes are all over the place at the moment! Hard length delivery on middle and leg, Ward keeps it out on the leg side. Unable to time it much.

Beautifully bowled! On a good length and on leg, seam shaping towards first slip and it moves sharply. Ward is squared up as he tries to defend but misses.

Leg bye! Sean Abbott hits the deck hard, seaming back in on the leg side as Webster backs away. He tries to pull but misses and gets hit high on the hips. It rolls on the off side for a leg bye.

11 runs and the big wicket off Starc's first over. Keeps it full and away from the batter, outside off, Webster looks to drive it away as he leans on but inside edges it to square leg for a single.

OUT! TAKEN! Starc grabs a wicket in his first over and that too of the dangerous Owen! An early blow to the massive chase for Hobart. Short of a good length and on middle, Owen tries to hoick it away but is a touch or two late into his shot. He top edges it to mid off where Steve Smith steps to his left and takes the skier.

FOUR! STREAKY! A wide yorker outside off, seaming in sharply. Owen looks to squeeze it out, away from his body but inside edges it past the stumps and to fine leg for a boundary.

FOUR! Should have been stopped! Starc misses his yorker by an inch or two and bowls it too full, around off, Owen lofts it down to long on where the fielder runs across to his left and stops with his left hand but fails to keep control of his pace and runs over.

Aerial and a bounce! A bumper, on middle and off, swinging away a touch. Ward comes inside the line and cuts it uppishly to deep third and picks up a single.

Oh, that was awkward for Owen! Starc steams in and bangs it short and on leg, some uneven bounce off the deck as Owen gets in an uncomfortable position as he tries to fend it away. Gets his bat across but instead gets hit on the gloves and it rolls away to cover for a single.

BEATEN! Pulls the length back and bowls it outside off, seaming away. Ward tries to push it away off the back foot but misses.

SIX! ON THE FIRST BALL! Pitches it up, around off, a little bit of outswing. Ward bends a bit, gets underneath the ball and powers it over wide of long on for a massive six.

Leg bye! Touch too full, straighter delivery on the pads. Owen looks to flick but misses and it rolls to square leg for a leg bye.

BEATEN! Lovely from Dwarshuis as he bowls it touch short, around off, swinging back in. Owen is squared up as he tries to fend it away and the ball goes over the off pole.

FOUR! The chase is underway! Ben Dwarshuis offers width outside off, length delivery. Owen smacks it through covers and it races to the fence in the blink of an eye. Delicious sound as the ball comes into contact with the bat.

Right on the money! On a good length, little bit of shape and lands it on middle, Owen taps it back.
