Mohammed Shami reaches Test milestone for India

  • Shami had a good match in the first Test as well, he picked up four wickets to help India thrash the hosts by a whopping 318 run margin

Mohammed Shami became the 15th India bowler to pick up 150 Test wickets on Sunday.

The 28-year-old reached the millstone when he had Rahkeem Cornwall caught by Ajinkya Rahane for 14 on Day 3 of the second Test in Jamaica. Shami came into the match with 148 test wickets to his name and removed Shimron Hetmyer for 34 to take his tally to 149.

Shami had a good match in the first Test as well, he picked up four wickets to help India thrash the hosts by a whopping 318 run margin.

Earlier in the match Jasprit Bumrah picked up a hat-trick and entered history books as the third Indian to do so.

Should India win the second Test, It would be a perfect start for the team in the World Test Championship. It would also make Virat Kohli as India’s most successful Test captain ever with 28 wins to his name, one more than his predecessor MS Dhoni.

India lead the two-match Test series 1-0.
