Pakistan have suffered yet another setback following their league stage exit from the recently concluded Champions Trophy 2025. The Men in Green were bowled out for their lowest total in 20-over cricket during the 1st T20I against New Zealand on Sunday.

Pakistan, led by Salman Ali Agha, managed just 91 runs in their 18.4 overs in the 1st innings as they were bowled out by the Kiwis at Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Jacob Duffy was the chief architect of Pakistan's destruction, taking 4 wickets for 14 runs, while Kyle Jamieson took 3 wickets for 8 runs.

In reply, the Kiwis chased down the total with relative ease, losing only one wicket to Tim Seifert (44). Tim Robinson (18 off 15 balls) and Finn Allen (29 off 17 balls) played their part in the run chase as New Zealand recorded a nine-wicket victory in just over 10 overs.

Pakistan's lowest T20I score:

Notably, Sunday's match not only marks Pakistan's lowest total in T20 cricket, but also the first time they have been bowled out for less than 100 in 20-over cricket against the Kiwis. Incidentally, Pakistan's last lowest total of 101 was also against the Kiwis - 101 at the Wespac Stadium in Wellington (2016).

What did Salman Agha say after the match?

Speaking to the broadcasters after Paksitan's 9 wicket defeat, Agha said, “It was obviously difficult and we weren't up to the mark… They bowled really well. They were bowling in the right areas and there was swing and seam for them as well.

“But out batting wasn't up to the mark. We have won day before the next game and we will try to gather ourselves and be better in the next game.” Agha added.

Notably, Agha was only recently appointed the skipper Agha as Pakistan's T20I captain in view of Asia Cup scheduled for later in the year and next year's T20 World Cup.
