Ben Stokes, the hero of the third Test match against Australia in the ongoing Ashes series was appreciated by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and called the English all-rounder the greatest cricketer of all. However, the move to appreciate the English all-rounder seems to have not gone well with the Indian cricket fans. Many fans from around the world feels Sachin Tendulkar is the greatest cricketer to have played the game.
The ICC shared a post on its official Twitter handle calling Ben Stokes the greatest of all.
ICC's official Twitter handle had posted a picture of Stokes with Tendulkar and captioned it, "The greatest cricketer of all time -- and Sachin Tendulkar" after the Durham cricketer starred for the hosts with an unbeaten 84 in the World Cup final in July as England lifted their maiden crown.
It was again Ben Stokes' heroics which helped England script an improbable win in the third Ashes Test at Headingley by defeating Australia by 1 wicket. Stokes played an epic knock when he hit an unbeaten 135 to help England snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in Leeds. On Wednesday, ICC shared the picture once again with caption, "Told you so".
This did not go down well with Indian cricket fans who swear by cricket legend Tendulkar.
"One has 15,921 Runs in Tests 18426 ODIs, Averaging 54 and 45. Other has 3479 in Tests and 2628 in ODIs. averaging 35 and 40. Shall I talk about centuries?? (sic)" tweeted a fan.
"Just that you are saying so don't think that we are going to believe. Greatest cricketer of all time is Sachin, rest everything starts after him in cricket world. Did you get it?" tweeted another fan.
One supporter wrote: "BCCI plz take strict actions and suspend ICC for these worthless tweets (sic)."
Another fan replied to ICC
Dude are you like Crazy. Why Not Braithwaite is Greatest hitting 4 sixes in final over to win cup for WI.
Instead of giving Greatest tag, You can use one of the Greatest moments/ Players. And yes Just don't compare.
You will never know how much @sachin_rt has given to cricket.
I think Sachin deserves more respect than this.. In the late 90s he shouldered the Entire Indian cricket team on his Own..countless times.. The only difference.. There wasn't any Twitter during that time..
