There are legends in the game and then there are immortals.
It would be fair to say that when it comes to the game of football and cricket there are none, or very few better than Steve Waugh and Sir Alex Ferguson.
Steve Waugh is one of the most respected cricketers to have ever played the game and led Australia to one of their most successful period in history.
Then there is former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson who managed the club for 26 years before retiring in 2013. He won 13 Premier League titles, 2 Champions leagues and many domestic cups and helped make the club a global behemoth that it is today.
The two got together for a lunch before the fourth Test at the Ashes and were also joined by current Australia coach Justin Langer. The picture of trio having lunch was shared by Waugh on his personal Instagram account.
Waugh captioned the picture saying, ‘What an absolute privilege and honour to have lunch with Sir Alex Ferguson. So many life lessons and words of wisdom from such a humble man full of spirit and generosity. A day Lang and I will always remember! #manchesterunited #siralex #winning #icon #truthworks’.
Steve Waugh has been with the Australia team as a mentor for the Ashes and rejoined them after being away for the third Test in Leeds. England famously won that match after Ben Stokes’ heroics to level series 1-1
