Fresh from winning the ICC Champions Trophy a week back in Dubai, Virat Kohli got into business straightaway in Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) colours at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
RCB open their IPL 2025 campaign against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 22.
In a video shared by the franchise on social media on Monday, Virat Kohli looked dapper in the new kit as he took guard at the nets, playing his shots to perfection. The former skipper not only played his trademark straight-bat shots but also stepped out a few times, sending the ball out of the ground.
Later, he was seen in a light mood with the likes of Phil Salt, Liam Livingstone, Romario Shepherd and a few uncapped players around him.
RCB will be aiming for their maiden IPL crown under their new captain, Rajat Patidar.
Although it was speculated that Virat Kohli would return as RCB captain for IPL 2025, the franchise preferred to appoint Madhya Pradesh batter Rajat Patidar, who has been in tremendous form in domestic cricket.
Notably, Rajat Patidar was one of the three players RCB retained, along with Virat Kohli and Yash Dayal.
The franchise will host an RCB Unbox event on March 17, during which they will reveal the new jersey in front of fans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The grand event will serve as the official launch of RCB's IPL 2025 campaign. It will also give an opportunity for die-hard RCB fans to interact with their favourite players.
The RCB Unbox event starts tentatively at 3:30 pm and will be streamed live on RCB's official website and app.
This year, the event will feature Australian DJ and music producer Timmy Trumpet.
Kannada playback singers Sanjith Hegde and Aishwarya Rangarajan, hit Kannada rapper All Ok and performances by Savaari Band and Best Kept Secret are also lined up.
