India cricket captain Virat Kohli has once again retained his spot as India’s number one brand celebrity icon according to a report by Duff and Phelps.
The study by Duff and Phelps titled Celebrity Brand Valuation Study 2019: “New is Gold” named Kohli has the number one celebrity brand for the third straight year.
Kohli, who is currently leading India in New Zealand, saw is valuation rise by 39% to $237.5 million, which is more than twice of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who is second on the list with a valuation of $104.5 million.
Injury may have ruled out Rohit Sharma from the New Zealand tour but he made his first appearance in the top 20 of the list, the Mumbai Indians skipper was 20th with a valuation of $23 million.
Others cricketers in the top 20 included former India captains Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Tendulkar was 15th on the list while Dhoni, who hasn’t played any cricket since the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, was ninth.
Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli’s better half, was at 18th place on the list with a total valuation of $23.9 million.
The total valuation of the top 20 men and women on the list was in excess of $1.1 billion.
