SRH vs GT, IPL 2025: Why Harshal Patel not playing against Gujarat Titans despite uninjured; here's the truth

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were forced to leave pacer Harshal Patel against Gujarat Titans in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday. A regular starter for SRH in all their four games, Harshal Patel has been among the wickets with four scalps in as many matches in this edition.

Although SRH skipper Pat Cummins mentioned about Harshal Patel's illness, it was former India pacer Varun Aaron who confirmed the news of the pacer's hospitalisation. Harshal Patel misses as he is ill, Jaydev Unadkat comes in," Pat Cummins had said during the coin toss.

However, there is not much information about Harshal Patel's nature of illness and it is also yet to be known about his tentative return. Meanwhile, Jaydev Unadkat is playing his first match in IPL 2025. SRH had shelled out ₹8 crore for Harshal Patel last year in the auction.

Jaydeb Unadkat, who has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad before, was bought by the 2016 champions for ₹1 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction in Saudi Arabia last year. The out-of-contention left-arm pacer has so far taken 99 wickets from 105 IPL matches.

On the other hand, Gujarat Titans opted to bowl first after captain Shubman Gill won the toss. Gujarat Titans also made one change into their playing XI, bringing in Washington Sundar replacing Arshad Khan.
