Spotify is finally bringing real-time lyrics for all your songs that you love to listen to but can't really remember the lyrics to sing along with it.

This development comes after repeated requests from the users on Spotify community page asking the streaming music platform to incorporate lyrics feature on the mobile version of the app soon.

Notably, the streaming app is still rolling out the feature to every user globally. Once the feature is available, the lyrics of the song you are currently listening to, will flash on the app and change as the song progresses and relieve you of any embarrassment of mumbling the lyrics for lack of remembering it.

Since the feature is till rolling out, it is currently available only to a handful of users worldwide, as Android Police reports, but it will soon reach every user. A few of the users also shared screenshots of how the feature would show on the app:

However, this feature should not be confused with the existing Genius’ “Behind the Lyrics” one, which shows facts about the song's composition, artists etc while momentarily flashing lyrics in between those facts. Not the most awesome feature to exist, truly. It is still not clear whether the new lyrics feature will replace the existing one or not.

As seen, Spotify's new lyrics feature is provided by Musicxmatch. For all songs that have support for it, they’re labelled with a LYRICS tag that resembles the EXPLICIT tag.

You can read the lyrics from the Now Playing section, just below the cover art and the music controls. Tapping on the lyrics card expands them on the phone.

Meanwhile, Apple product users have more reasons to rejoice. According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is considering giving third-party apps more prominence on iPhones and iPads as well as on its HomePod speaker to third-party music services such as Spotify. This essentially means that you may soon be able to set third-party apps such as Spotify as defaults instead of just Apple Music.
