WhatsApp's closest rival Telegram has recently rolled out a massive number of features to further enhance the app and its privacy. The social messaging app is known for its unique chat features such as end-to-end encryption of user's messages, scheduling messages, disappearing chats etc.
Adding to the list, Telegram's latest update version 5.13, for both Android and iOS users lets users create, customise or choose themes and colour gradients and patterns for your chats.
The social messaging app has also added an important and useful feature which is big on privacy. In the latest update, Telegram has added a new feature where you can not just schedule a message but you can avail yourself of an enhanced feature that will send the message only when the recipient is online. The app however, mentions that this feature only work when "you know their online status." In other words, you can use this feature only if you are allowed to see your recipient’s online status.
Apart from this, users will also be able to select venues more easily when sharing your location. This essentially means that users will be able to share their exact location by directly tapping on the venue on the map instead of manually typing and then scrolling through the list of options.
There is also the improved search mode that enables you to remain in search mode while selecting multiple messages for a particular word.
Moreover, in what may be welcomed by podcast listeners, the instant messaging app will be able to remember your last played position for audio which is longer than 20 minutes. There's also a 2x speed dial for podcasts.
Other interesting features introduced by Telegram include easier switch from light to dark mode in Android. Telegram for iOS users opens with dark mode automatically if the iPhone system has Dark Mode display. Consequently, if you switch to Light Mode for your iPhone, the app will also automatically change to Light mode. However, you can keep the app in the Dark theme by choosing the theme from Settings>Appearance>Night for iPhones. Apart from the night and light themes, there are also three more themes available, namely Classic, Tinted and Morning Apple.
The new update also comes with a number of fun animations, the option to increase or decrease font size, faster switch between accounts etc. On iOS, you can also control what you want in your Share Sheet. For that, you need to go to Setting>Data and Storage > Other > Share Sheet and select from the list.
