Amazon Echo users in India can now use Apple Music for playing music on their smart speakers. The company on Thursday announced support for Apple Music on its platform, meaning users will be able to add the service as a skill through their Alexa app.
“Users of all Amazon Echo devices such as Echo Dot, Echo Show 5, Echo, Echo Spot, Echo Plus, Echo Show, and Echo Input can enjoy Apple Music via simple voice commands with Alexa,” the company said in a press release.
With this, users will be able to give their speakers voice commands to play their playlists or curated playlists from Apple Music. So, you can say “Alexa, play my music from Apple Music” and the AI will do so. If you set Apple Music as your default music service, the voice assistant will automatically start playing your music from it whenever you say “Alexa, play music”.
So far, Alexa had support for Amazon Music, the company’s own music streaming service and JioSaavn in India. With the addition of Apple Music though, Amazon has increased the voice assistant’s music playing abilities considerably.
That said, it seems support for Spotify isn’t available in India yet though the service is supported overseas.
