A fresh rumour about Apple working on a new model of one of its most sough after product, the Airpods has emerged. According to a new report posted by DigiTimes, the Cupertino-based company may be working on a so-called "AirPod Pro Lite" headphones model among other products.
The other products mentioned include next-generation iPad, Apple Watch, and iMac models, all of which will be due for updates in the coming months, although some of these devices may not launch before September.
The report also mentions that Apple may be diversifying production risks by shifting orders to Taiwan. "Apple is mulling shifting more assembly orders for its new models slated for launch in the first half of 2020 to factories in Taiwan mainly to diversify production risks associated with the ongoing coronavirus outbreak," reported DigiTimes citing industry sources.
Not much is known about this new Airpods Pro Lite. However, it seems a bit unlikely that Apple would manufacture a Lite version of its headphones for a lower price as the company recently released the Apple Airpods Pro, in October 2019. The Airpods Pro, during the launch announcement was priced at $249 (or ₹24,900), which is $90 more expensive than the second-generation AirPods, as well as a $50 more expensive than the AirPods with Wireless Charging Case bundle.
Point to note: While DigiTimes provides somewhat accurate data on certain aspects of Apple's supply chain, it may be less accurate whn it comes to specific details of future products.
