Jio, the renowned Indian company, has introduced a budget-friendly item-tracking device named JioTag in the country. This innovative gadget provides a cost-effective alternative to Apple's AirTag and utilizes Bluetooth technology to help individuals locate lost or misplaced items effortlessly.

JioTag: Price in India

In India, the JioTag is available for purchase at a discounted price of ₹749 through the official Jio website. The device has a maximum retail price (MRP) of ₹2,499. Interested buyers have the option to select cash on delivery, but this is limited to specific pin codes. In contrast, Apple's AirTag is considerably more expensive, priced at ₹3,490.

JioTag: Specifications and features

Reliance Jio asserts that its JioTag offers an impressive battery backup of up to one year. This tracking device not only assists in locating lost items but also provides the functionality to ring a silent phone by simply double-tapping on the tracker. Additionally, JioTag sends alerts if one forgets their wallet, keys, or other belongings, offering their precise location. With a range of up to 20 meters indoors and 50 meters outdoors, the device supports Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity.

A notable feature is the Community Find, which enables users to access the last known location of a disconnected item. If the JioTag itself goes missing, users can report the loss in the JioThings app, and the Jio Community Find feature will aid in locating it. The retail package includes an extra battery and a lanyard cable, allowing users to conveniently attach the JioTag to any item.

JioTag, while affordable, has a limited range and is most effective for locating items such as small purses, wallets, key rings, and car keys within a range of 20-50 meters.

On the other hand, Apple AirTags offer superior tracking capabilities. They can track items located more than 30 feet away from the phone by utilizing a network of iPhones. In essence, AirTags leverage Bluetooth connections with other Apple iPhones to guide users to the location of the tagged items.
