PremiumChinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is gearing itself up for yet another wave of smartphone launches in India. This time we can expect its Redmi sub-brand to launch at least two new smartphones as well as a successor to its popular affordable flagship, the Poco F1.
In a tweet, Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Jain mentioned, "India ?? #RedmiNote India ?? #48MP So we've decided to get you both! ?? #RedmiNote7S - An all-new SUPER Redmi Note for all our India Mi fans is coming! #48MPForEveryone unveils on 20th May. Mark your calendars!"
The teaser clearly builds up on the marketing stunt Xiaomi pulled off couple of weeks ago of launching a Redmi Note 7 into the stratosphere in a hot air balloon. The company also seems to putting a major emphasis on its camera. The teaser sports a "RedmiNote7S 48MP Dual camera" watermark. Not much is known about the smartphone at the moment, although we can expect incremental upgrades over the existing Redmi Note 7.
Redmi on Wednesday posted another teaser of its upcoming flagship device, the Redmi K20. Xiaomi Global VP Manu Kumar Jain in the teaser called it "Flagship Killer 2.0" as he congratulated OnePlus on Twitter for the launch of its new smartphone. Although he did not share any specifics about the phone, he did reiterate the presence of the Snapdragon 855 SoC in the phone.
Going by the rumours, we can expect the smartphone to come in two variants, one of which will run the Snapdragon 855 SoC while the other might run the new Snapdragon 730 chipset.
The K20 is also expected to come with a pop-up camera and bezel-less display, a design choice pioneered and made popular by the company’s Chinese rival, Vivo.
According to a leaked image, the product is expected to have a 48MP main rear camera, a 20MP selfie shooter, 6.39-inch AMOLED touchscreen and a 4,000mAh battery with 27W fast charging support.
Another leak suggests that the higher variant of the K20 would be launched in India as the Poco F2, but we are yet to get a confirmation on that from Xiaomi.
