PremiumNew Delhi: Chinese tech major, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi is supposed to introduce its new product on 14 May.
After the new teaser went viral, there were many speculations regarding the name of the product. Just a few days ahead of the launch, a leaked picture of the phone's protective sticker on a website shows that the name of the product could be Redmi K20 Pro.
In a social media post on 1 May 2019, Redmi’s General Manager, Lu Weibing, has confirmed that the soon to be launched product will not be called the Redmi X but “there will be a better name."
This will be Redmi’s first flagship device and will be powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset. Earlier in a post, the general manager also mentioned that the product will have "stronger performance, longer battery life, better camera, higher screen ratio, worth waiting for..."
This will be the first product of Redmi to come with Qualcomm's flagship processor, the Snapdragon 855, joining likes of Xiaomi Mi 9, Lenovo Z6 Pro, Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, Samsung Galaxy S10 series, Sony Xperia 1 and a few others.
As per the teaser, the new Redmi K20 Pro is supposed to have a pop-up camera and bezel-less display, a design choice pioneered and made popular by the company’s Chinese rival, Vivo.
According to the leaked image of the phone sticker, the product is going to have a 48MP main rear camera, a 20MP selfie shooter, 6.39-inch AMOLED touchscreen and a 4,000mAh battery with 27W fast charging support. Though the details about screen size and the main camera were already known, the other information is new. This is one of the most anticipated launches of the company so far.
In 2019 so far, Redmi has launched the Redmi Note 7, the Redmi Note 7 Pro, the Redmi Go, the Redmi Y3 and the Redmi 7.
