Chinese smartphone brand Realme is set to launch its new top-tier smartphone series, the Realme X, on Wednesday in China. The smartphone is one of the two "X" devices that caught the eye of many tech fans in India, the other one being the Redmi X (it wouldn't really be called that, but the name has caught on).

The Realme X is expected to come in three variants—Realme X, Realme X Pro and Realme X Youth Edition.

Out of these, the Realme X was spotted on Geekbench benchmarking platform last weekend. Codenamed RMX1901, the smartphone was rocking a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC with 8GB of RAM. It posted scores of 1506 and 5837 for single-core and multi-core scores respectively. The smartphone was running Android 9 Pie.

Going strictly by the scores, the smartphone performed at par with the Realme 3 Pro that was launched a few weeks ago here in India. So, if you look at it, this new smartphone can actually be thought of as a buffed up version of the Realme 3 Pro, with higher RAM capacity and possibly, an in-display fingerprint scanner. Realme on Chinse social media platform confirmed that the smartphone will sport a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and will be backed by 3,680mAh battery with support for VOOC3.0. It will also come with a pop-up camera.

According to GizmoChina, the lighter sibling of the smartphone—the Realme X Youth Edition—is essentially the Chinese version of the Realme 3 Pro.

The Realme X Pro is expected to sport Qualcomm's top tier chipset, the Snapdragon 855.

The Indian availability of the Realme X is still not clear, however we should see it coming by June as India is a huge market for the ex-Oppo brand.
