New Delhi: Chinese handset maker Xiaomi had extended its list of phones which will no longer get the new MIUI upgrade.

Earlier, the company had confirmed on its forum that starting 4 April the Redmi team will stop offering software updates for seven phones. The list of phones included Redmi 3S/Prime, Redmi Pro, Redmi 4 Prime, Redmi 4 Global, Redmi 4A, Redmi Note 4 (MTK version) and Redmi Note 3. The smartphone maker has further extended the number of phones now. Recently launched Redmi Pro, Redmi 6 and 6A may also be out of the list.

Missing on the upcoming MIUI 11 upgrade or any Global Beta update in the future means that users of these smartphones will not get the feature that removes advertisements from Xiaomi smartphones.

Meanwhile, the company has said it will continue to provide Android security updates to the handsets not getting the new update for now.

The MIUI 11 will have a number of AI features. The system will automatically adjust itself with the user’s behaviour. The company is also working on to optimize the status bar. The upcoming MIUI 11 will see a few new changes in the status bar to make it more interactive.

The company has claimed that the next UI will be more consumer-focused backed by cutting edge technology. The new OS will have a smoother and better UI with changes in icon design with better animations. The upgrade will also come with an "ultimate power saving mode" which will disable all the system functions except for calls and messages. It will also support a system-wide dark mode.

The lists of phones which will get the update are Xiaomi Mi 9, Mi MIX 1, MIX 2, 6X, Mi 6, 5X, 5c, 5s, 5s Plus, Max, Max 2, Max 3, Mi Play, Mi 8, Note 2 and Note 3.
