After the GST Council announced a hike in taxes for the smartphones, smartphones have become dearer. Apple is no different and the premium smartphone maker has increased prices of its devices in India. Other popular smartphone brands like Xiaomi and Oppo have also announced a hike in prices due to the increased tax. The GST has been increased by 50% from 12% to 18%.

Apple has increased the prices of iPhones by around 5%. The iPhone 11 Pro Max (64GB) is now priced at 1,17,100 earlier it was priced at 1,11,200. The iPhone 11 Pro (64GB) has witnessed a price change from the older 1,01,200 to 1,06,600. The base model of the iPhone 11 that was priced at 64,900 will now cost 3,600 more at 68.300. The iPhone XR 64GB variant which was priced at 49,900 is now priced at 52,500.

The popular and more affordable older iPhones have also got bigger price tags than before. The Apple iPhone 7 32GB variant is 1,510 more expensive at 31,500.

Xiaomi also released a statement today announcing a price hike in view of the new increased tax and the depreciating Rupee in comparison to the US Dollar. The Chinese company will increase the prices of all its smartphones including the popular Redmi and Poco line-up.

Oppo India has also raised the prices of their smartphones by up to 2000. The price hike for the affordable range starts at 500.
