New Delhi: Apple has updated its Mac Studio desktop PC lineup, adding two new variants powered by the company’s latest M2 Max and M2 Ultra system on chips (SOC). The new models were announced at Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday.
The new lineup succeeds last year’s Mac Studio which was powered by the M1 Max and M1 Ultra chips. Mac Studio is a compact desktop computer designed for creative professionals, such as video editors and graphic designers.
According to Apple, the new Mac Studio with M2 Max chip is up to 4x faster than the fastest Intel-based iMac, while the one on M2 Ultra is 6x faster. Both offer up to 40% faster neural engine cores for handling heavy machine learning (ML) workloads.
The new Mac Studio and Mac Pro are available for order starting today on the Apple Store app and website and will be available in Apple Stores and authorized resellers on June 13.
Mac Studio with M2 Max starts at ₹2,09,900 and ₹1,88,900 for education.
In addition to the new Mac Studio, Apple also launched a new workstation called Mac Pro, starting at ₹7,29,900 and ₹6,87,900 for education.
A Mac Pro is a more expensive workstation PC designed for professional users who need the absolute best performance. The new Mac Pro will also be powered by M2 Ultra with 24 core CPU and 76 core GPU. It has a 32-core neural engine which can handle 31.6 trillion operations per second, according to Apple.
The M2 Ultra is the second generation of Apple’s ARM based custom silicon architecture and is made up of two M2 Max chips connected using Apple’s UltraFusion interconnect, also known as chiplet architecture where multiple dies are fused to form a more powerful chip.
