Taiwanese electronics major Asus will soon be launching its new flagship device to take on the likes of the upcoming OnePlus 7. The Asus Zenfone 6 will be launched on 16 May at an event in Spain.
Asus tweeted out a poster for the Zenfone 6 launch, which teases the silhouette of the smartphone. Going by the poster, we expect the smartphone to have a full-screen display, uninterrupted by a notch of any kind.
There have been some speculations regarding how Asus will manage to tuck the front facing camera within the smartphone. Some reports suggest that the smartphone might employ a dual-slide design, although this has not been officially confirmed.
The Asus ZenFone 6 is expected to be powered by hardware at par with its bitter rival, the OnePlus 7. It is likely to be equipped with the Qualcomm's flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 855. According to listing on smartphone benchmarking software AnTuTu, a smartphone codenamed "ASUS_I01WD" with the aforementioned specifications posted an overall score of 363172.
According to leakster Evan Blass, the Snapdragon 855 chipset might be paired with a Qualcomm X50 modem to give it 5G capabilities.
In terms of optics, we might have 48MP cameras at the front as well as the rear. The rear-facing sensor will be accompanied by other cameras as well. It is, however, not clear whether the sensor is Sony IMX586 or Samsung’s GM1.
Going by the unofficial renders, the body of this phone does not seem to have any physical fingerprint recognition hardware. Hence the smartphone will most likely come with an in-display fingerprint sensor.
