Google takes a dig at Apple in new ad campaign, says iPhones have ‘plateaued’
Google's 'BestPhonesForever' ad campaign mocks Apple iPhones for lacking features like astrophotography mode, call assist, and VPN, which are present in Pixel phones. The campaign aims to promote Pixel Fold as better than iPhones.
Making fun of Apple iPhones, Google has released a new ad campaign named ‘BestPhonesForever’. The campaign features a series of ads depicting iPhones as ‘old’ that have not been able to keep up with Pixel phones. The ads also highlight Pixel Fold and features on Pixel phones that are currently lacking on iPhones.
For example, one of the ads titled ‘Plateau’ tells home truth about ‘legendary’ iPhones that have ‘turned fourteen’ but do not get ‘compliments’ for photos like Pixel phones do. “Astrophotography mode, Call Assist, 30x Zoom. You can do so many things I may never be able to," laments iPhone in conversation with Pixel. The ad then shows Pixel comforting iPhones for its bubbles to which iPhone replies “The bubbles! The bubbles! Is all I have to show for all my years on earth the color of a bubble? I mean, millions of people have waited in line for me."
Towards the end of the video, iPhone runs out of battery to which Pixel replaies “Ah quick! Somebody get a lightning charger!"
In another ad, the duo are gazing stars with iPhone expressing grief at not being able to see the stars as Pixel does. This one particularly highlights the astrophotography feature of Pixel phones.
Third ad in the series is titled ‘Sketchy Wifi’ where the iPhone can be seen saying “Oh my gosh, oh my gosh. I’m freaking out! Quick, get off the public Wi-Fi. There are…hackers in this place."
To this, Pixel replies “It's okay. I come with my own VPN which helps keep me safe."
As of now, the VPN feature is absent from iPhones.
The fourth ad mocks the iPhone's quick battery drain. “What a gorgeous day! What do you say we shoot some videos? iPhone? Oh no, iPhone! Don’t you die on me!," Pixel phone cries before using its Qi wireless wireless reverse charging to juice up the iPhone.
Fifth and the last ad in the campaign flexes folding technology on Pixel phones, highlighting the Pixel Fold. Apple is yet to launch a foldable phone.
