Oppo will launch the Oppo Reno 2 smartphone in India next week. India will be the first market in the world to get the Oppo Reno 2, unlike other Oppo smartphones that are first launched in their home market China. Ahead of its launch, the smartphone received certification from TENAA and 3C.

The TENAA listing shows that the Oppo Reno 2 will be available in two storage variants, as there were two nearly-identical devices certified with 128GB and 256GB internal storage.

The listing also shows that Reno 2 will come with a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution without a display notch of any sorts, just like its predecessor. It will carry forward the 'shark fin' motorised pop up selfie camera legacy from the original Reno that will host a 16MP sensor.

The back has gone under the knife, as the company previously confirmed the presence of quad cameras there. We can expect a 48MP primary accompanied by a 13MP telephoto, 8MP ultrawide and 2MP depth sensor.

The smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.

The battery capacity is expected to be around 4,000mAh and the 3C listing reveals the Reno 2 will ship with a 20W fast charger.

It will run Oppo's latest ColorOS 6 UI running atop Android Pie 9 OS.

Oppo's preference for the Indian market is justified by the advances its Hyderabad facility has made. Oppo's Hyderabad facility played a crucial role in the development of Reno - Oppo's recent flagship series which comes with 10 times zoom feature. The company is planning to increase investment in the Hyderabad R&D center, which is largest outside China.

The Oppo Reno 2 will be launched just three months after the launch of its predecessor, showing a trend of shortening smartphone lifecycles. The Oppo brand is owned by BBK Enterprises, which also owns Realme. Realme recently launched the Realme 5 and 5 Pro smartphones in India, just four months after the launch of the Realme 3 and 3 Pro.
