OnePlus 7 Pro has received another software update. The new update (OxygenOS 9.5.8) brings a number of optimizations along with updated Android security patch. OnePlus announced this update on OnePlus Forums with a changelog.
OxygenOS 9.5.8: What's new?
The new update includes the May 2019 Android security patch, along with a few other OS fixes. These include touch sensitivity optimisations, better compatibility with third-party Type-C headphones, general system bug fixes and improvement in call quality.
Another major fix mentioned in the changelog is in the camera department. According to the changelog, OnePlus has fixed an issue with the pop-up camera that caused it to open during an incoming video call when the screen was off or locked.
OnePlus says the update will be rolled out in a staged manner. What this means is that the update will reach only a few OnePlus 7 Pro devices today. This is being done so that OnePlus can monitor its communication channels for any complaints or bug reports related to the new update. In case there are reports about a serious system breaking bug that managed to slip past developers, OnePlus will halt the update roll out to fix the problem and if everything works as intended it will go ahead with a wider rollout of the update. This way the company ensures that not all devices receive a problematic update at the same time.
A stitch in time
Soon after OnePlus 7 Pro's launch, customers reported issues with its display, camera, call quality. The "phantom touch" was among the most well-known ones in which the device registered false touch inputs, causing unwanted apps to open. Some users also mentioned a "faint high pitched interference noise in the earpiece" while they were on a call. The current update seems to be a fix for most of these issues.
The OnePlus 7 Pro is available in three colour variants—Mirror Grey, Almond and Nebula Blue. The Mirror Grey variant is priced at ₹48,999 for the 6GB/128GB option, and ₹52,999 for the 8GB/256GB. The Almond colour trim only comes in the 8GB/256GB variant for ₹52,999. The Nebula Blue version of the OnePlus 7 Pro comes in 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB variants priced at ₹52,999 and ₹57,999 respectively.
