  • OnePlus already released Android Q Developer Preview on the forum for the OnePlus 7 Pro 48,999 and OnePlus 6/6T
  • OnePlus promised Android Pie rollout for the OnePlus 3 and 3T by the end of 2018, but it only hit the smartphones by this month this year

Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has officially confirmed that its two-year flagships—the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T—would receive the Android Q update. The company on its forums also mentioned that users shouldn't expect a tentative launch timeline anytime soon.

To recall, the company promised Android Pie rollout for the OnePlus 3 and 3T by the end of 2018, but could only deliver it to the users until earlier this month. As a result, it received a lot of backlash from its loyal fanbase. This time around though, OnePlus is clearly staying away from promising anything they can't deliver.

OnePlus promises its customers two years of timely Android update and three years of security updates. The OnePlus 5 and 5T still fall under that criterion, so it's only natural they will receive the update. On the other hand, the OnePlus 3 and 3T have been around for more than two years, so they will not receive the Android Q update later this year.

"We have already released Android Q Developer Preview on the forum for the OnePlus 7 Pro 48,999 and OnePlus 6/6T, available. For those wondering, rest assured: Android Q will also make its way to the OnePlus 5 and 5T. Just remember, there are no ETAs.," said OnePlus in a forum post.
