OnePlus TV has been in the news since October last year, when OnePlus CEO Pete Lau expressed his intentions to launch a smart TV that isn't "conventional and cumbersome".

In June this year, leakster Ishan Agarwal on Twitter suggested that OnePlus TV was coming sooner than you think, along with a few key details in the accompanying tweets in the thread.

Now, OnePlus tracking website AllAboutOnePlus reported the OnePlus TV's remote control just received a Bluetooth SIG certification with model number RC-001A. The listing doesn't talk anything more than the remote offering Bluetooth 4.2.

The tracker says we can expect the launch of the OnePlus TV in the next few months now that the remote has received Bluetooth certification.

The smart TV is rumoured to sport a 4K HDR display, although Agarwal believes that it wouldn't be an OLED panel like other premium TVs.

OnePlus last year took registrations from its community for choosing the name of its first TV last year. Lau also made several appearances in media interviews to talk about the TV's capabilities.

“I dream about a time when technology is truly seamless, an effortless part of your life without being the focus. As other consumer electronics have evolved and improved our lives, televisions have remained conventional and cumbersome," said Lau in a OnePlus forum post.

He hinted at developing an AI-assistant for the smart TV, which will be armed with high quality hardware, a seamless user experience and a minimalistic design.

“With the development of AI technology, our imagination is endless – and we are looking forward to the future," he added.
