After nearly a year of silence, OnePlus finally spoke up about its upcoming TV. The company's community consultant 'dsmonteiro' on the OnePlus Forums officially announced the name of the TV — OnePlus TV.

"We are going to call our very first smart TV product "OnePlus TV" – simple yet to-the-point – as we believe there's no other name that can best represent our value, vision and pride than naming it with our own brand," said Monteiro.

OnePlus last year took registrations from its community for choosing the name of its first TV last year.

The community manager also unveiled the logo of the product, saying it was inspired by "classic geometric progression such as the ancient Hindu symbol, the mandala".

OnePlus said it will keep its promise to award the winners of the 'OnePlus TV: You Name It' contest and give an even bigger prize to the person who first named its new product the OnePlus TV.

OnePlus, a company that started off as a sub-brand of Oppo that built high-end smartphones at a reasonable price, in said in it's eyeing a connected future with the new TV. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau made several appearances in media interviews last year to talk about the TV's capabilities.

“I dream about a time when technology is truly seamless, an effortless part of your life without being the focus. As other consumer electronics have evolved and improved our lives, televisions have remained conventional and cumbersome," said Lau.

He hinted at developing an AI-assistant for the smart TV, which might be armed with high quality hardware, a seamless user experience and a minimalistic design.

The specifications of the OnePlus TV are still unknown. However, a recent leak showed the the OnePlus TV will come with a Bluetooth remote. It received a Bluetooth SIG certification in July with model number RC-001A. The listing didn't talk anything more than the remote offering Bluetooth 4.2. The listing also revealed it will come with LED panels that will be anywhere between 43 and 75 inches.
