Redmi India is conducting a launch event tomorrow and the major product that is expected to be launched is the Redmi 9A. However, the company has shared multiple teasers on Twitter which claim that there’ll be something more than just a smartphone. Redmi India will be launching a new product category in India.
The company’s official Twitter handle also put out a video which does not reveal much but definitely doesn’t look like any smartphone. The new category launch is suspected to be the RedmiBook, a laptop by Xiaomi’s sub-brand. Xiaomi’s India head Manu Kumar Jain, sent out a tweet a few days back claiming to have met his counterpart at Intel.
The company is already selling Mi and Redmi laptops in China. The RedmiBook in China is sold in two sizes, one with a 13-inch screen and another with 14-inch screen.
Xiaomi is expected to launch these new laptops with the latest 10th Gen Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors. However, the user will get a choice between the two processors. The current generation of RedmiBooks in China comes with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage as standard on all models. Xiaomi offers Nvidia MX250 graphics card with the laptop.
Many users are also suspecting that the launch could be of a Redmi powerbank rather than a laptop. To get a decisive answer, enthusiasts will have to wait for the official event.
The launch event is scheduled at 12pm IST. It will happen on the same day as Samsung’s global Unpacked event where they are expected to launch the new Galaxy Fold and new generation Galaxy S20. Xiaomi will also conduct a launch event in China on February 13 where it is expected to launch the all new Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro.
