One of Xiaomi's hottest selling smartphones, the Redmi Note 7, would be phased out of sales in India soon. In a Twitter post, Redmi's product's PR said "Redmi Note 7S will replace the Redmi Note 7 (might be a few days of overlap, but that's it)".
The Redmi Note 7s was launched yesterday with a 48MP camera and a Snapdragon 660 AIE processor. With yesterday's launch, Redmi bridged the gap between the Note 7 and Note 7 Pro by having a Note 7-series smartphone in every ₹1,000 interval from ₹9,999 to ₹16,999.
Responding to this tweet, Raghu Reddy, Xiaomi India's Head of Categories & Online Sales, further confirmed that the smartphone would be phased out.
This discontinuation wasn't very well received by buyers. Some buyers felt the smartphone became obsolete a little too quickly.
The company hasn't revealed why the Note 7 would be phased out, however.
The Redmi Note 7 was launched in India three months ago at ₹9,999. The smartphone comes with a brand new design for Redmi smartphones as well as a new display with a U-shaped notch. It is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 660 processor and sports a 12MP+2MP dual rear camera setup.
