Reliance Jio Wednesday launched nation-wide free video and voice wi-fi calling services for its Jio customers, which will enable them to switch to voice over Wi-Fi inside their homes/offices.
"At this juncture, when an average Jio consumer uses over 900 minutes of voice calls every month, and at a growing base of consumers, the launch of Jio Wi-Fi Calling will further enhance every Jio consumer’s voice-calling experience, which is already a benchmark for the industry with India’s-first all VoLTE network," said Akash Ambani, Director, Jio.
The service will provide free voice and video calling for all Jio customers and will be available on over 150 handsets. Smartphones from brands such as Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Vivo and others enabled with HD voice feature will be compatible for an interrupted free Wi-Fi calling experience.

The telecom major also announced that this service comes with no additional charge. The customers making Wi-Fi calls to Indian numbers will also be free of cost, regardless of the location within India. This means, that the calls can be made even when your phone is on roaming.
To enjoy this new service without any interruptions, you should be upgraded to the latest device software update of your Android or iOS smartphones and have access to a high-speed and stable Wi-Fi internet connection.
Reliance Jio's rival Bharti Airtel also recently announced that 'Airtel Wi-Fi Calling' is now live all across India. Also, the service can now be accessed by Airtel mobile customers over any home or public Wi-Fi network, making their indoor service experience truly seamless without any additional charge.
