Instagram's Threads app poses a significant threat to Elon Musk's struggling social media service, according to industry experts. Elon Musk himself responded to a mocking post about Threads on Twitter with a laughing emoji, indicating his support for the criticism.
PremiumMeta's Instagram on Wednesday officially unveiled Threads which is considered the most potent threat to the struggling social media service Elon Musk owns. Threads, the newly unveiledapp by Instagram, offers users the ability to share text, and links, and engage in conversations by replying to or reposting messages from fellow users.
However, several users on Twitter taking sides with Elon Musk have reacted on how the Meta’s new Threads app has been created. Recently, a Twitter user with the handle DogeDesigner (@cb_doge) mocked Meta’s new Threads app with his latest post.
His post showed a keyboard with copy and paste buttons, implying that Meta’s new app is similar to Twitter. Interestingly, Elon Musk has reacted to the post with a face with tears of joy emoji.
Replying to DogeDesigner’s post, a Twitter user with name Alice in Wonderland commented, “Zucks threads ‘plural’." Another Twitter user with nameChe Guevara commented, “Within five minutes, I deactivated #ThreadsApp There's no way it can compete with #Twitter, I'm sure of it @elonmusk."
To recall, Threads is a new app enabling text, link sharing, and interaction through replies and reposts. Users can migrate their Instagram follower lists and account names, benefiting from the app's features
“There should be a public conversations app with 1 billion-plus people on it," Meta Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg said Wednesday in a post on Threads. “Twitter has had the opportunity to do this but hasn’t nailed it. Hopefully we will."
Adding to it Connor Hayes, a vice president of product, said that many of Instagram’s influential users have been asking the company to make a text-based app.
“Creators were telling us, ‘We want an alternative to what’s out there, and we don’t want to start over and have to build out a following from zero,’" Hayes said in an interview.
