Meta-owned WhatsApp has reportedly been testing the ability to edit sent messages among some of its beta testers. Additionally, the messaging app is said to be working on a new feature called "channels" which will allow users to broadcast information to multiple recipients at once.

WhatsApp has released the channels feature for its beta testers on Android, as per a report by WABetaInfo. The messaging app is working on this feature to ensure the best possible experience for users upon its release. Beta testers with Android version 2.23.10.14 can now try out the channels feature on WhatsApp. Additionally, WABetaInfo shared a screenshot of the upcoming feature, which shows that the Status tab will be replaced by the Updates tab, serving as the home to Status and Channels.

As per the report, the channels feature will allow users to receive updates on topics they are interested in, and the channels they follow will be visible in a designated section of the app. The report added that when creating a channel, users' privacy will be safeguarded, and their personal information like name, phone number, profile photo, and about will not be visible to channel followers, making it a private space.

Reportedly, the channels feature on WhatsApp enables users to share updates with a particular group of people and connect with an unlimited number of followers to share news and events. However, it is not clear whether there is a limit to the number of followers a channel can have. The feature is currently being tested and is expected to be available for all users soon.

WABetaInfo reports that WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows selected beta testers to edit sent messages. Users can access this feature in the message menu options, where they can edit the content of their sent messages within a new window. The feature is available for both individual and group chats and can be used for up to 15 minutes after the message has been sent, with multiple edits possible. However, the feature is currently only available for testing on WhatsApp Web.
