The feature is being tested only on iOS for now
The preview for voice messages is very similar to a regular WhatsApp message preview— it displays name of the sender and a line from the text sent along with the voice message
Instant-messaging app WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows users to listen to a voice message from the notification menu itself. WhatsApp already allows its users to preview messages, including messages that contain videos and images, within the notifications without actually opening the app.
The preview for voice messages is very similar to a regular WhatsApp message preview— it displays name of the sender and a line from the text sent along with the voice message.
WhatsApp is testing another feature that will let you edit media files that you've sent or received on the application. The feature is being tested on both, Android and iOS, platforms. Like many WhatsApp features in beta, the release date of this 'Quick edit' feature isn't made final.
WABetaInfo, a website that tracks the latest WhatsApp features, posted a few screenshots of the feature in development. Going by these, a new 'Edit' button will be introduced next to 'Share' and 'Favourite' buttons that will allow you to edit the media.
The 'Edit' button gives you the the editing tools that exactly the same to what you find right before sending an image to a recipient—you get to crop, add text and doodle on the image. The only difference here is that you can now edit photos that you have received or already sent to someone right from the application.
Until now, if you had to crop or edit an image after receiving it on the application, you would have to either open the image in your default image viewing application or send the image to someone else on WhatsApp itself.
