Xiaomi sub-brand Redmi on Thursday asked its Indian fans on Twitter to guess its upcoming smartphone. In the tweet, Redmi India said: You will soon see a device with Qualcomm Snapdragon 730, one of the first in India...Can you guess the name of the phone coming with 730?"
It also mentioned that the processor is about four times quicker than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 710. Redmi India also compared the AnTuTu benchmark score of the Snapdragon 730 with Snapdragon 675 and 710. The 730 has a performance score of 218625 while the other two posted 180808 and 155215.
The smartphone is widely suspected to be the Redmi K20 that was launched in China exactly a month ago. The smartphone was launched in China at a price of 1,999 Yuan (about ₹20,000) and is powered by Snapdragon 730 paired with two storage options of 6GB/64GB and 6GB/8GB.
The Redmi K20 is lit by 6.39-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone has a full-screen display with no interruptions by any sort of notch. To deal with the front facing camera situation, Redmi has fitted the smartphone with a motorised pop-up camera mechanism. The selfie camera also has a sapphire lens coating making it wear and tear resistant. The display also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. The smartphone is backed by a 4,000mAh battery that supports a 18W fast charging. It uses a 48MP+13MP+8MP rear-facing camera setup for clicking photos.
The smartphone was launched with the K20 Pro, which is a higher-spec variant of the K20. It comes with a Snapdragon 855 processor paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage and the same display and selfie camera as the K20.
The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro is expected to be launched in the second week of July, the company confirmed. It hasn't given a tentative launch schedule of the two smartphones in India. The company has been teasing the smartphone by comparing it with the OnePlus 7 Pro. Earlier this month, Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain claimed on Twitter that the K20 Pro is faster than the OnePlus 7 Pro by posting a picture of its benchmark score.
