Xiaomi's new flagship killer—the Redmi K20—will be launched in China tomorrow. The smartphone will soon make its way to India—Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar and Redmi's official social media pages have confirmed.
The smartphone seems to be aimed directly at the OnePlus 7 Pro and is expected to offer flagship specs at a price under ₹30,000, much like what the Poco F1 did last year.
It is confirmed that the Redmi K20 will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and a motorised front facing camera mechanism.
Other than this, we have some new leaks to give us more insights into the upcoming launch.
A poster with Redmi K20's pricing and specifications was leaked on Chinese social media platform Weibo recently. Going by that, the smartphone is expected to come in at least three variants with different RAM and storage volumes.
In terms of design, the smartphone looks very similar to the renders that were posted earlier on Weibo. However, we have received our first look at the rear panel design of the smartphone. The back of the smartphone has a unique gradient design with a triple camera setup. The configuration is still under speculation, although it is highly likely it will have a 48MP primary sensor.
At the front it is expected to have a 6.3-inch full HD+ AMOLED display. To eliminate bezels, Redmi is employing a motorised selfie camera mechanism that houses a 20MP camera.
It might be backed by a 4,000mAh battery with support for quick charging.
The poster has also revealed the possible pricing of the Chinese version of the Redmi K20. According to it, the base variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage will cost 2,299 Yuan (about ₹23,000). The 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB variants are expected to cost 2,499 Yuan (about ₹25,000) and 2,899 Yuan (about ₹30,000) respectively.
