Taiwanese smartphone-maker Asus announced the launch of Asus Zenfone 6 in India. According to the media invites and the microsite on Flipkart, the ZenFone 6 will be launched as the ‘Asus 6Z' in India on June 19. The company's decision to go with the new name comes due to a Delhi High court-directed restrain on the sale of Zen or ZenFone-branded products.
The smartphone was launched earlier this year in Spain at 499 Euros (about ₹39,000). The smartphone sports a no-notch display and a flip-up camera.
This is the most innovative flagship offering from the smartphone-maker in recent years in terms of design. The Asus 6Z will compete with the likes of OnePlus 7 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10e, Pixel 3 and others.
Asus Zenfone 6 is lit by a 6.4-inch NanoEdge display with a resolution of 2340x1080 and 600 nits of peak brightness. The phone is sandwiched by Gorilla Glass on both ends with an aluminium chassis in the middle.
It is powered by Qualcomm’s top-end chipset, the Snapdragon 855 paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It is backed by a 5,000mAh battery and ships with an 18W Quick Charge 4.0. On the software front, it runs on Zen UI 6 based on Android Pie 9. Asus says its offers near stock Android experience.
Unlike the OnePlus 7 Pro, the Asus Zenfone 6 features a fingerprint sensor on the back.
The Flip Camera module can be used to selfies as well as a rear facing camera. It has two sensors comprising a 48MP+13MP setup. The latter has a 125-degree wide angle lens. The cameras also support Laser AF assist and Dual LED flash.
Another key feature of the Asus Zenfone 6 is the dual 5-magnet stereo speaker module with dual NxP smartamps that promise to offer superior audio quality than other smartphones in its range. It also comes with dual mics and 3.5mm headphone jack.
